A beautifully quiet countryside location
Situated in a secluded countryside location, three miles from Salisbury, South Hills School was established by the Countess of Pembroke.

The school itself was originally a number of farm buildings , converted to create separate rooms for each age group; two kitchens, one specifically designed for use by older children. We also have an enclosed outdoor play area complete with apparatus such as a wooden adventure castle, sand pit, play house and tricycles. The children play on a safety surface to help prevent the bumps and bruises of lively outdoor recreation and the gates are kept locked for safety reasons.

Outdoor space is almost limitless and the school benefits from a number of fields and paddocks suitable for organised games, physical education and so on as well as housing the many farm animals we have for the children’s education and enjoyment. The children are also building their own natural life pond and wildlife area which will take up to 10 years to fully mature and will be a great facility to aid their learning about the environment as they grow.

In 2007 we built a sensory garden with the children and continue to develop our horticulture, selling the produce to parents.

On the main field we now have a trampoline, activity climbing frame and a pirate boat which are used for play and role play activities.

The Dairy and Barn Class look out onto another enclosed play area and garden. The children are encouraged to care for the farm animals that live on and around the site and in doing so, learn responsibility while gaining a caring attitude towards nature. On the main playing field is a trampoline which is a favourite with the children.
The Baby Unit has its own enclosed outdoor play area which benefits from an artificial grass safety surface.
